GFSB was established for compensatory Mitigation for unavoidable impacts to waters of the Uninted States including wetlands that result from activities authorized under Section 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act, Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act.
GFSB provides compensation for the USGS hydrologic unit codes: 02080201, 02080202, 020802203, and 02080204.
GFSB's HUC codes include the Upper James, Maury, Middle James-Buffalo, and Rivanna Watersheds, all of the city of Lynchburg, Charlottesville, and the counties of Highland, Bath, Alleghany, Craig, Boteourt, Rockbridge, Augusta, Greene, Albemarle, Nelson, Amherst, and Bedford.
GFSB, Phase I, protects approximately 4,570 LF of stream channel in preservation, enhancement, and restoration.
GFSB, Phase I, total credit yield is 5,468 stream credits, released over 5 years - 10 years monitoring.
GFSB, Phase I, has 98 acres within the protected stream reach easement.
GFSB, Phase I, holds 2 escrow funds to comply with MBI for Maintenance and Catastrophic events.
GFSB was permitted as an Umbrella Bank, allowing the inclusion of other phases within our HUC service area.
